Nika Conversation animation, and some QoL/balance changes.


Heyo everyone! It was a productive week this time around, so let's get into it!

First up, some new QoL additions, and changes:

>I added indicators underneath the player healthbar to show your allies, and when their abilities are available for use.

>There is now an overlay when purple claws latch on to you, instructing you to barrel roll. This is to help with clarity.

>Camera restrictions have been extended on most levels. This means you can fly further right, and further left in most cases to catch those enemies who seemed to be tough to reach.

>Hscene room now gives the ability to review the "Help" animations shown when an ally asks for assistance.

>Changed Molbon's boss' tentacles to have 1000 health instead of 1500.

>Changed how lasers read collision with obstacles to ensure it hits enemies before obstacles if engaged on the same frame.

>Started implementing the new input system (No big differences yet, aside from *maybe* some gamepad controls, but the change has started). *Once completed, gamepad controls will likely be much more consistent/practical, and keybinds will be on the table. This will likely not be completed this build though.*

Aside from that, the main focus this week was Nika's Conversation animations. I split the image up, meshed, rigged, and animated all emotion states. The attached image is her basic Idle. (No particular emotion).


Next week will be focused on Neos' boss. It will be a lot to get through, but here we go!

Do you know when improved gamepad support and custom keybinds will likely be available? Just as a ballpark?

It's tough to say, but it likely will be at some point after v0.7. The workload for these first 7 levels don't leave a ton of wiggle room. After Zol'gan is implemented, the next builds will be to revisit each planet and give each of them a new level. During these builds I am hoping there will be a bit more time to focus on stuff like this.

I noticed a layering issue in Nika's animation: Her paw goes behind her stocking but in front of her leg. Also, wow she has big paws! They're as big as her torso!

haha, ya, that issue isn't actually in the game. The proper gif ended up being too large for Itch.io posts, so I used an older one.
